A powerful teacher, anointed speaker, and gifted writer - Nakisha Thomas is the founder New Creature Ministries in Orlando, FL. A proud native of the island of the Bahamas, she credits her upbringing with her deep love for studying the Word of God. Her involvement in student politics and the lasting impression left by her American Government teacher led her to major in Criminal Justice at Florida International University. It was during her years in college that she became more involved in leadership roles in the Student Senate, Student Programming Council, and Black Student Union. Her desire to be more involved in serving the community at large led to her joining Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Her dedication and charisma led to her being catapulted to the national levels of leadership in the multi million dollar non profit organization - where she served as the youngest member of the National Executive Board for 2 years. Her time in corporate America included serving on the marketing team for a multi million dollar technology based spin off from a Fortune 500 company.
After the birth of her first child, she felt the desire to leave the traditional corporate world so that she could dedicate more time time and attention to the call of motherhood. She was drawn to serve her local church and eventually became a staff member, serving as the Network Administrator and Multimedia Designer for 6 years. She believes she was able to live out some of her greatest moments - serving as a Youth Ministry leader, making an impact on the next generation. After being ordained into leadership she also became a leader in the Jewels of Christ Women's Ministry, where she discovered her passion to empower women.
It was during a time of great personal tragedy and turmoil that she was forced to confront the issues of sexual abuse and rape in her past - while dealing with her own struggles with same sex attraction. She felt isolated and realized that there were few resources in the Christian community addressing these issues. She will always be grateful to pioneers like Janet Boynes and Pastor DL Foster for their love and support during her journey and encouragement as she launched out to help others. A true believer in Jesus' charge to Peter, she gave birth to New Creature Ministries - a ministry dedicated to bringing sexual healing to those who desire to understand and experience God’s plan for sexuality in their lives. Nakisha believes in boldly declaring that deliverance is possible from any type of sexual brokenness and providing teaching and instructions to ministers and families on how to support individuals through their deliverance and healing process.
Nakisha is a member of Majestic Life Ministries, proudly serving in leadership under her pastor of 12 years - Pastor Riva Tims. She is also a student and daughter in the faith to Apostle VW Jones. She is honored to serve as the Vice President of the Overcomers Ministry - a national organization providing discipleship and support for those struggling with unwanted same sex attraction. The Organization has members all over the United States and abroad in the Caribbean, South American, Africa and other countries.
Her greatest joy, however, is her family. She and her loving husband of over 16 years Robert Thomas, Sr. are the proud parents of 2 beautiful children – Imani and Robert Jr. Their family is a true testimony of God's restoration power.
