Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new
2nd Corinthians 5:17

The topic of sex is one that is widely ignored and avoided in Christian communities.  We know that sexual relationships between individuals was designed by God, with a specific intent and purpose in mind.   However, just like sin came into the world - our lives can become corrupted by experiences, thoughts, and ideas that lead to sexual brokenness.  It does not matter whether our sexual brokenness comes as a result of our own actions or the sad tragedy of being violated by another person, once we are broken we need of healing. The world recognizes the need for sexual healing and if you typed the phrase into any search engine it would give you words and pictures that  highlight the false myth of what sexual healing is - which are also all reflected in the song made popular by Marvin Gaye.  The song tells us - "when I get that feeling, I need sexual healing", but that feeling is not the indication that you need sex - it's an indication that you need healing.

The world’s definition of sexual healing relies on our narcissistic human nature to believe that what we need can be found within ourselves. In the world, sexual healing is presented as the concept of using sex to heal our brokenness In God’s eye - sexual healing is the process of presenting the broken pieces of our sexuality to God so that he can:

Replace the false errors that we have been taught with the truth from God's word
Repair the pain of emotional wounds that have been created by the misuse of our temple by others and even ourselves
Renew our minds so that it will yearn to follow after the Spirit and not after the flesh
Restore us, so that we are walking in the original design that he had for our sexuality
Reconcile us to the body of Christ, so we can safe in the fellowship of believers and help others in need.

So while the world views sexual healing as a way of utilizing sex to heal our brokenness, as believers our sexual healing is a process by which we are restored to God’s original plan that we use our sexuality as a expression of our wholeness. The question is: Will you be made whole?
